On verra bien.
I just wanted to take a moment to apologize for the teething problems with we´re seeing this evening with Multiplayer; we fully acknowledge that we´ve had a bumpy start with the on-line lobbies. Please be patient as we work through the these issues. I assure you that we are giving them our utmost attention and are working late into the night to find resolution.
We´re actively tracking and working on the following problems right now:
? Frequent disconnects while you are in the on-line lobbies. We hope that the server deploy this evening will lessen or completely fix this issue, but let´s wait and see how that goes. Occasional crashes when you switch between auto-match and custom match (and sometimes when you switch between lobbies in custom match). We´re pretty sure we understand this one and plan to fix it in a future patch (see below). Difficulty in browsing games or joining a game because the game list constantly refreshes and the slider bar jumps to the top of the game list scroll bar. This will also be fixed in the short-term patch that we are busy preparing.
Sluggish reporting of match results. Many, if not most, match results are falling into a extended processing category that means they are not getting tabulated for two hours. The matches are being registered and correctly handled, however -- just not as quickly as they should be. This will also be fixed in the short-term patch.
? We´re also looking at why some of you are having problems with the patching system. We may contact you individually to get more information in order to help us make a fix.
We´re looking at posting a new patch within the next day or two to address some of these issues. This is not a promise to post a fix for everything - just a promise to fix as much as we can as quickly as we can.
Please hang in there... we´re working on the issues and really do appreciate your patience.
It sounds like some folks are having a problem with the 1.1 patch. This is what is being reported:
? You patch to 1.1 successfully, or in a very small number of cases you attempt to patch to 1.1 and encounter an error. You uninstall the game You reinstall the game When you go online again you are prompted to patch, at which point the game informs you that you have a corrupted install and need to reinstall. Boom -- cycle of sadness.
We´ve been able to reproduce this problem on the dev team and have a temporary solution. Here´s how to fix it.
? Uninstall the game After you uninstall, go into the installation directory and delete any and all subfolders that you may see remaining. (If you´re having trouble finding it, the default installation directory is "Program Files/Electronic Arts/Command & Conquer 3."
You may see subfolders named "Patches" and/or "RetailExes." Blow it all away. Reinstall the game Through the Command Center, or by simply going online, install the 1.1 patch. This time the patch should install correctly.
This is just a temporary workaround. We will be readying an automated solution to this problem and expect to make it available sometime soon, but if you´ve been bitten by this issue you should be able to get back online using this technique.
